Digital Skills Bootcamp Case Study | The Beautique, Stokesley
Lucy Fenny owner of The Beautique, Stokesley.

Before starting the Digital Skills Bootcamp with EMS, I had just launched my business.
Before that, I had spent 12 years working as a primary school teacher.
Although I loved teaching, the constant pressure was increasingly difficult. It was time for a change. I retrained and started my own beauty business.
I first heard about the program through a friend who had completed the course herself. She couldn’t recommend the course highly enough. Hearing such positive feedback from several local business owners gave me the confidence to apply.
If I’m completely honest, it was that the course was fully funded that got my initial interest. Starting a business is incredibly expensive so having access to such valuable training was an amazing opportunity.
There were lightbulb moments in every session!
One of the biggest was learning how to identify my ideal customer. Attracting the right clients is far more valuable than simply trying to attract as many people as possible.
Another lightbulb moment was learning to be much more strategic about social media. Before the course, I would create a post and publish it immediately. The course taught me to think about who each post was aimed at and when those people were most likely to be online.
Learning to plan my content around my audience’s routines, rather than posting at random, completely changed the way I approached social media.
A further breakthrough was overcoming my fear of filming myself and recording voiceovers. Now, I wouldn’t think twice about filming a quick video to explain something or introduce myself. I would never have had the confidence to do that before.
I would tell any other small business to Book it! you won’t regret it. There is nothing to lose and so much to gain.
My business genuinely wouldn’t be where it is today without the lessons I learned through the Digital Skills Bootcamp.
I have now been in business for over two years, and it continues to go from strength to strength.
I have built a loyal and consistent client base.
Since completing the course, I have introduced services such as the Elim Heel Peel and successfully launched these through social media
I am now preparing to launch another new treatment, but I’m keeping that one a secret for the moment, as I’ll be sharing some teasers on social media first!
I have grown enormously in confidence as a business owner and continue moving the business forward.
Next available Digital Skills Bootcamps are Scarborough 1st Oct and York 9th Nov
