Starting in August 2025, the Growth Hub will one again be joined by Jo Tomlinson from Business Works for a series of ‘Business Basics’ webinars looking at pricing, planning and all things numbers. What do sole traders and landlords need to know?
Making Tax Digital is the government’s plan to move UK taxpayer’s records from spreadsheets and paper, to a fully digital system. It already applies to VAT-registered businesses and will soon apply to Income Tax records for self-employed individuals and landlords.
From April 2026, the rules around submitting self-assessment tax returns will change for millions of sole traders and landlords. So what does that mean to you and what should you be doing now to prepare for this change?

About the provider
Jo Tomlinson is a qualified Management Accountant, certified QuickBooks Advanced ProAdvisor, Making Tax Digital ProAdvisor and of only 11 Certified QuickBooks Trainers’ that work on behalf of QuickBooks, training accountants across the UK.
She started Business Works after working in industry as a Commercial/Management Accountant for over 20 years. Prior to this, her experience was mainly in blue chip manufacturing businesses, where she would manage the accounting team and develop profit improvement strategies with the senior management teams.
