Work with the Growth Hub: Opportunities Now Live

The UK Shared Prosperity Fund (SPF) is a central pillar of the UK government’s Levelling Up agenda and a significant component of its support for places across the UK. The fund aims to boost productivity, pay, jobs and living standards by growing the private sector, especially in those places where they are lagging. North Yorkshire Council (NYC) is the geographically largest council in the country, and this region has a mix of rural, urban and coastal communities all of which will have common challenges but also competing and differing needs. The York & North Yorkshire Growth Hub, now a part of the newly launched York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority (YNYCA), is procuring a series of specific business support programmes, as part of North Yorkshire Council’s SPF plans.

We are now looking for providers who can deliver business support in the following workstreams:

Workforce Skills Support (Deadline 15th July 2024)

We are looking to appoint a series of providers to deliver match-funded support to businesses in the area of skills support. This will cover the areas of:

  • Recruitment
  • Retention
  • Succession Planning
  • Soft Skills, including sales
  • Project management
  • Customer service

Export magic as York business nears 1 million sales milestone

A York-based business owner is set to export 1 million drinks to the US this year and wants more of the region’s businesses to follow in his footsteps. Phil Pinder from the Potions Cauldron will be one of the experts taking part in the export roadshows this month, organised by York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority.  The team will visit venues across two weeks including Tadcaster, Harrogate, Scarborough, York, Catterick and Skipton.

Innovation Supper provides funding boost for First Leaf Farm

The event followed its now well-established format: attendees enjoyed supper while hearing from local entrepreneurs, each given ten minutes to pitch their business idea followed by questions from the audience. At the end of the evening, participants voted to decide which business would receive the proceeds from ticket sales, providing both a financial boost and valuable exposure to an engaged local network.
