Would you know how to support a colleague, friend or family member experiencing bereavement or living with a long-term health condition?
Delivered in partnership with York Against Cancer and The Bereavement Alliance, this practical session will help you understand grief, loss and emotional responses. You’ll gain confidence in having supportive conversations, not only with the individual affected but also with the wider team, including colleagues who may be experiencing an emotional impact or taking on additional responsibilities. You’ll learn how different types of loss can affect people and discover practical ways to offer support and signpost to appropriate help and services.
Learning outcomes:
- Understand grief and the impact of different types of loss
- Build confidence in supporting others through difficult situations
- Learn practical communication techniques
- Identify sources of help, guidance and specialist support
