CardioLogic Diagnostics Wins Innovation Supper
The fifth instalment of Innovation Supper saw Faye Singleton, Director of CardioLogic Diagnostics, take home the funding after delivering a compelling pitch for her life-saving business.

Before developing this business, Faye studied Biomedical Science at the University of York, combining her passion for healthcare with a lifelong love of sport. The inspiration behind CardioLogic Diagnostics came after her York City Ladies FC teammate unexpectedly collapsed due to an undiagnosed heart condition.
Thankfully Faye’s teammate made a full recovery, but this event highlighted a significant gap in preventative cardiac screening for athletes. While elite sportspeople have annual access to ECG screening, the same opportunities are rarely available to those playing below the top leagues.
“I wanted to bridge that gap because early detection can save lives,” Faye Said. “1 in 250 athletes that have an ECG test have a potentially life threatening condition picked up.”
Today, CardioLogic Diagnostics is working with sporting organisations, schools, colleges, and universities to make cardiac screening more accessible.
“As grateful as I am to have won, the biggest benefit was meeting so many motivational people in business. The advice, encouragement and connections I made were incredibly valuable.
“The relaxed, supportive atmosphere made pitching far less daunting than expected.
“It can be quite scary presenting in front of new people, but the organisers and attendees were really welcoming and put you at ease. Everyone genuinely wanted everyone else to succeed.”
Winning Innovation Supper has provided CardioLogic Diagnostics with seed funding that will help tackle one of the business’s biggest early challenges: marketing. The prize money will support activities such as attending industry conferences and investing in paid advertising to reach more customers and raise awareness of the importance of accessible cardiac screening.

Faye believes the biggest impact came from learning alongside fellow entrepreneurs.
“Hearing other people’s experiences and understanding where they were in their business journey was invaluable.”
The event has also opened doors to further support, with Faye now exploring marketing guidance from one of the business experts she met at the event.
Reflecting on the experience, Faye encourages other start-ups to embrace every opportunity to grow their network.
“Go for it. You never know who you’re going to meet or what opportunities will come from it. If you’re starting a business, you need to take every opportunity you can to build your network.”
Emma Rollason-Taylor, Business Relationship Manager, said:
“Innovation supper is a fantastic opportunity for fledgling businesses to meet other entrepreneurs, meet some new contacts and hear real advice on their business idea and plan.
“This community event is growing, and the range of businesses that we have now supported is fantastic. Everything from vertical farming to medical equipment, cooking sauces to bespoke journals for marketing professionals. We are growing a friendly community of people who are on hand to help your business grow.”

The event followed its now well-established format: attendees enjoyed supper while hearing from local entrepreneurs, each given ten minutes to pitch their business idea followed by questions from the audience. At the end of the evening, participants voted to decide which business would receive the proceeds from ticket sales, providing both a financial boost and valuable exposure to an engaged local network.
