Work with the Growth Hub: Support for Social Enterprises

The UK Shared Prosperity Fund (SPF) has an ambition to boost productivity, pay, jobs and living standards by growing the private sector, especially in those places where they are lagging. North Yorkshire Council (NYC) is the geographically largest council in the country,  and this region has a mix of rural, urban and coastal communities all of which will have common challenges but also competing and differing needs.

We are now procuring a series of specific business support programmes, as part of North Yorkshire Council’s SPF plans. This will include a programme of support for Social Enterprises.

The York and North Yorkshire Growth Hub has commissioned a report, now completed, which seeks to give “an accurate insight into what the Social enterprise sector in North Yorkshire requires in terms of support and how the Growth Hub deliver this through specialist support partners, within the context of the North Yorkshire Economic Framework”.

The Growth Hub now intends to follow up on the report’s recommendations in order to procure and deliver a package of support for the Social Enterprise sector within the region, equipping those supported with knowledge and skills that they did not have previously. This will include the following delivery modules:

  • Starting or Building Your Social Enterprise
  • Seed Funding Support: Micro-Grants
  • Mentoring and Peer-Learning
  • Capacity building workshops and support
  • Networking and Partnerships
  • Action Learning and Ongoing Evaluation

Due to the specialised nature of this support, potential providers will be expected to demonstrate expertise of Social Enterprises and the sector specifically rather than generic business knowledge. The deadline for this workstream is 18th November.

Scams warning as Self Assessment customers targeted

Passwords, usernames, and access codes are private and customers should never share them, even with someone they trust or who helps them with their tax.
