This course will guide you through essential topics such as organising customer data, building a professional online presence, and managing e-commerce platforms. You’ll also learn how to integrate Artificial Intelligence in practical ways to enhance your business operations. With a blend of online and in-person workshops, this programme is specifically designed to support the needs of small and medium-sized businesses in Whitby.

Course Content

Workshop 1  – Data Management  

  • CRMs, and their relevance for different types of organisation (e.g. for sales applications vs. non-profits)  
  • Systems integration, and joining up disparate systems (e.g., accounts and finance, sales and marketing)  

Workshop 2  – Online Presence  

  • Website building, and relevant software (e.g., Wix, Squarespace, etc.)  
  • Website accessibility   

Workshop 3  – E-Commerce and EPOS  

  • Creating a profitable website  
  • Tracking website engagement  
  • Online booking platforms  
  • Choosing and using appropriate third-party selling platforms such as Etsy and eBay, and how to integrate these into one’s own website  
  • Appropriate platforms for different kinds of businesses, e.g. product vs. service businesses, domestic vs. international sales, etc.   

Workshop 4  – Compliance  

  • GDPR  
  • Privacy policies  
  • Cookies  
  • Managing a mailing list  
  • Subscriptions  
  • Other legal aspects  

Workshop 5  – Artificial Intelligence (AI)  

  • Going beyond the hype and guiding businesses to find practical applications within their organisation  
  • Introduction to different apps and modules   
  • Safe and ethical application
