Whether you’re new to social media, branding, or online advertising, these workshops will guide you through the essentials of Digital Marketing in Selby, ensuring you can reach your target audience effectively. With a mix of face-to-face and online sessions, this course offers flexible learning tailored to your business needs.

Course Content

Workshop 1 – Social Media 

  • Basic overview of different social media platforms, their strengths and relevance to your business i.e. Tik Tok, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X etc. 
  • Learn your target audience.  Who are they?  What are their interests, demographics and preferences? 
  • Explore new ways of using social media within your business 
  • Learn how to create content in the form of a short video 
  • Basic overview of algorithms and what they are used for and their characteristics 
  • Gain an awareness of social media and online behaviour 

Workshop 2 – Software  

  • How to build a social media content plan for your business? 
  • Identifying the best social media software to suit your business needs? 
  • An overview of the various software tools in the marketplace such as Sprout Social, Buffer, Hootsuite, Social Pilot, Zoho and Loomly etc. 
  • Examples of a time management and scheduling tool such as Hootsuite 
  • Basic overview of design software such as Canva 

Workshop 3 – Branding 

  • How to develop a brand, and how to approach this depends on the type of business you are? 
  • Understand your target audience. Who are they? What are their interests, demographics, and preferences?  
  • Identify the difference between a personal brand and a business brand 
  • Identify your business brand identity 
  • Ensure you maximise self-presentation and maximise you or your business as a brand   

Workshop 4 – Websites and Customer Experience 

  • The importance of having a digital online presence for your business and why this is the case? 
  • Principles of search engine optimisation, advertising and manipulation 
  • Principles of online advertising 
  • Review the digital user journey – how people find businesses online 
  • Ensuring your business has easy digital accessibility for your website/social media platforms 
  • Best practices for improving your website 

Workshop 5 – Place-based and Demographic Marketing  

  • Understanding the principles of place based and demographic marketing and the difference in the approaches. 
  • Understand the principles of email marketing segmentation and how to personalise 
  • Know your customer base and target according?  
  • How to measure online activity effectively? 
  • How to understand local trends and local differentiation

This programme is made up of five sessions, delivered both face-to-face and online.

Session 2: 2 October, 9:30am-12:30pm – Online

Session 3: 9 October, 9:30am-12:30pm – Sherburn Aero Club (New Lennerton Ln, Sherburn in Elmet, Leeds LS25 6JE)

Session 4: Online -16 October, 9:30am-12:30pm – Online

Session 5: 23 October, 9:30am-12:30pm – Sherburn Aero Club (New Lennerton Ln, Sherburn in Elmet, Leeds LS25 6JE)
