Workshop: The Benefits of Inclusive Business Practices – Riccall (Selby)

19 Mar 2025

Join us for this essential workshop to boost your business by embracing inclusivity. This session will cover key areas like disability awareness, inclusive communication, the impact of the Equality Act, and the potential of the “Purple Pound”—a market worth billions in untapped spending power.

This half-day session, delivered by Rachel Barber of Living 4 Moments, serves as an introduction to inclusivity topics and how they can be applied to customer-facing businesses – supporting your customers, staff, and bottom line.

About the Workshop

In this hands-on session, Rachel will guide you through a discussion of a variety of inclusion topics and explore the significance of perceptions and inclusion.

Topics will include:

  • Disability awareness
  • Communication skills and use of language
  • Customer and employee loyalty
  • Relevant legislation, such as the Equality Act
  • The potential of untapped markets via the Purple Pound
  • Actions you can take and examples of good practice

Join our upcoming inclusion training to make your business more accessible and welcoming for disabled customers and employees. This training will equip your team with essential knowledge in deaf and dementia awareness, as well as practical strategies to create inclusive spaces.

The session focuses on empowering your staff with techniques and tools to better serve disabled customers, boosting your team’s confidence and capability to meet diverse needs.

Plus, an inclusive environment isn’t just ethical—it’s profitable. The “Purple Pound” represents a £14.6 billion market in tourism alone, with even greater potential if accessibility is improved.

Living 4 Moments will guide you through identifying and overcoming common barriers, helping your business unlock revenue and become a preferred choice for disabled customers and their families. Remember, 20% of the population has a disability, and 70% of disabled customers won’t return if they encounter barriers. Join us in aiming for progress and start building lasting, inclusive practices today.

She does this by supporting businesses to attract and retain loyal customers and employees. Her training and consultancy are based on lived experiences and research into best practices.

Overall the UK economy according to Purple is losing £274 billion a year by not being accessible for disabled customers and employees. Why would anyone throw away potential income?

Rachel has lived with a severe/profound hearing loss.  Through her personal challenges and varied career in the private, public and voluntary sector she has gained an insight into the different challenges and cultures of organisations and their impact on disabled people.
