19 November: Digital Marketing for Not-For-Profit Businesses

This series of sessions delivered by Harriet Stainton from the York and North Yorkshire Growth Hub is designed to empower charitable organisations with the digital marketing tools and strategies needed to amplify their impact. Across three targeted sessions, participants will gain the skills to enhance their brand, engage with their audience, and manage their online presence effectively. Delivered in partnership with The University of York’s Enterprise Works and York St. John’s Enterprise Centre.
1. Brand and Strategy: In this face-to-face session, you will learn how to define and communicate your organisation’s unique brand identity. This session covers the development of a cohesive marketing strategy that aligns with your mission, helping you build trust and recognition in the community. The session will include an interactive brand personality workshop, strategy definition and an additional session from North Yorkshire Police, who will deliver a group challenge around cyber security.
2. Social Media and Content Creation: In this online session, you will discover how to craft compelling content and leverage social media platforms to connect with supporters, share your story, and drive engagement. This session focuses on content planning, storytelling, and platform-specific strategies tailored for charitable organizations. Break out sessions will allow you to discuss each step and how you might implement ideas into you own business, whilst getting peer feedback.
3. Traditional Marketing and Website Management: In this online session, you will explore the integration of traditional marketing methods with digital tactics, including email campaigns, direct mail, and print advertising. Additionally, this session covers essential website management skills to ensure your site is user-friendly, accessible, and optimized for both search engines and stakeholders.
By the end of this course, participants will be equipped with actionable insights and techniques to effectively market their cause and maximise their impact. Additional support for digital marketing is available with Harriet on a one to one basis through the York and North Yorkshire Growth Hub’s website.
Dates
This three-part series will consist of an in-person session, followed by two online meetings.
The in-person session will take place on Tuesday 19th November, 10:00-12:00 at Spark York (17—21 Piccadilly, YO1 9PB)
The online meetings will be held as follows, with Teams invites sent out following the first in-person session.
