Fully Funded Training for Tourism and Hospitality Businesses – Level 2 Food Hygiene and Safety for Catering

The York and North Yorkshire Growth Hub are pleased to be partnering with North Yorkshire Council and the City of York Council on an initiative to support hospitality businesses from across the area to benefit from fully funded Food Hygiene and Safety Level 2 training and certification courses

About the training:

High Speed Training’s Level 2 Food Hygiene and Safety for Catering course is an industry-leading course, designed to provide businesses with the knowledge and skills needed to operate safe and hygienic food premises. It informs you of your legal responsibilities and what constitutes best practice for controlling food safety hazards, controlling temperatures, food storage, food preparation, personal hygiene and premises cleaning.

With food hygiene ratings having a significant impact on customer decisions, taking food hygiene seriously isn’t just about ticking boxes to meet compliance standards, it’s a key driver of customer trust and long-term business success.

A high rating demonstrates your commitment to potential customers, whilst a low rating can damage your reputation and lead to a loss of business. A recent FSA report found that 82% of customers would avoid any takeaway or restaurant with a hygiene rating that they deemed lower than acceptable.

A full module breakdown can be viewed here.

Aims of the training

By the end of this course, you will:

  • Recognise the consequences of poor food hygiene and safety and the principles of food safety management systems
  • Explain your own and others’ responsibilities for food hygiene and safety in line with food safety law
  • Identify food safety hazards and recognise how to prevent contamination of food
  • Explain safe food preparation and storage practices
