This session will discuss these threats, as well as the impact they can have on your business so you can understand the importance of staying safe – and how to do so.
By the end of this session, you will understand what cyber attacks and threats such as ransomware and phishing emails – two of the most common threats to SMEs according to police crime figures – are and how they could target you, so that you can stay informed and aware. SME cyber-attack case studies will be presented and discussed, after which advice will be given on what to do in the event of an attack, and how to defend against the most common SME attacks.

Speakers and partners
Steve Leach
Steve is a Detective Inspector with 24 years policing experience. The majority of these spent within CID, both at a Force and Regional level. He has always had an interest in the digital and cyber world. Prior to joining the police he graduated university with an Electronic Systems Engineering degree. Within the police he has worked in internet investigations and managed communication data investigators, radio frequency technicians and Digital Forensic Examiners. More recently he was part of the team that was responsible for creating the force-wide Cyber Crime Unit. He has previous experience of force and region-wide Projects from design through implementation to delivery.
