Free one-day training for Tourism businesses across York & North Yorkshire – with sessions across Skipton, Scarborough, Northallerton, York and Harrogate.

It’s a tough market and costs are rising all the time for hospitality and tourism businesses. This means that you need to increase revenue, and smarter marketing is one definite way forward. What’s the format of the day?

Each free training day will involve a maximum of 12 businesses from your district, and will be led by former Marketing Director of Yorkshire Tourist Board, Martin Evans. As “Tourism Business Booster” sessions, they will be lively and full of marketing and promotional ideas to put into practice in your business. We already know that with an ongoing cost of living crisis, slackening demand, and staff wages and other costs continuing to rise, it’s going to be a tough 2026 for most businesses. So this free workshop from the Growth Hub, is just what you need in order to hit the ground running with sharpened and cost-effective marketing for the challenging times ahead!

This fully funded programme, free to hotels, B&Bs, self-catering operators, wedding venues, restaurants, spas, visitor attractions and events organisers, is delivered by Martin Evans of The Tourism Business, the York-based award-winning marketing consultancy which has worked with leading hotels, attractions and other tourism operators for the last 25 years.

Martin Evans has considerable experience in delivering business advice, coaching, mentoring and training to hundreds of small and medium-sized businesses, including being joint Lead UK Coach on the DTI’s UK “Profit through Productivity” benchmarking and best practice scheme for tourism businesses. As a former Marketing Director of Yorkshire Tourist Board and of Consort Hotels group, and organiser of national marketing conferences for hotels, attractions, spas and wedding venues, he is well positioned to add real value to your marketing in just one day.
